York, Yorkshire Dales, and Beamish - Sept 12,13

Pateley Bridge - a typical town. Here's a nice website about the Yorkshire Dales.
Yorkshire Dales (where James Harriot had his veterinary practice).

Like all of the rural areas we saw in England, we really loved the Yorkshire Dales county, down narrow rock-walled lanes and through rolling hills. It's a very calming scene to see well organized and productive farms with cattle and sheep grazing. Maybe it's in our blood. When you think of it, virtually all of our past generations, except the last two, were farmers. Maybe it's hard-lined into our chemistry to need land, grass, sunshine, rain, and animals, to be at peace.

Should I try to pass? Literally inches between mirrors when you meet a wide vehicle coming the other way.
